A Personal Stylist’s guide to successfully packing for your holiday.

Holidays are meant to be a time of relaxation and enjoyment, a chance to escape the everyday routine and immerse ourselves in new experiences. However, for many of us, the prospect of packing for a trip can cause more stress than excitement. As a Personal Stylist, I understand the importance of feeling confident and put-together, even when living out of a suitcase. That's why I'm here to share my top tips for packing in a way that eliminates anxiety and ensures you look and feel your best throughout your holiday.

1. Plan According to Your Itinerary and Baggage Allowance: Before you start throwing items into your suitcase, take some time to consider your travel plans. Think about the activities you'll be doing, the places you'll be visiting, and any specific events you'll be attending. It's essential to pack strategically, for example if your holiday involves plenty of sightseeing, you won't find us opting for brand-new shoes you've never worn before that run the risk of blisters. Instead, we'll focus on packing light layers that offer versatility, allowing you to adapt to varying environments and activities with ease.

2. Opt for Versatile Pieces: When space is limited, versatility is KEY. Look for clothing items that can serve multiple purposes and be styled in different ways. Investing in "all in one" pieces like jumpsuits or dresses can save you space while still offering plenty of outfit options. Pair these with "do it all" items that can be dressed up or down to create a wardrobe that adapts to various activities and settings. Take, for instance, my stunning soft denim jumpsuit — a staple in my city break wardrobe. During the day, it pairs effortlessly with sneakers, a tank top, my beloved gold jewellery, and a cap. However, as evening falls, a quick transformation occurs: a cinched belt, a switch to heels, a sleek blazer draped over my shoulders, and voila! I'm all set for cocktails.

3. Try Before You Fly: One of the biggest packing mistakes is assuming that certain outfits will work without trying them on first. To avoid any last-minute wardrobe malfunctions, take the time to try on each outfit, including accessories and footwear. By creating a digital outfit diary with photos of your chosen ensembles, you'll have a visual reference to guide your styling decisions while on holiday. This proactive approach not only saves time but also ensures that you'll feel confident and comfortable in every outfit.

4. Incorporate Easy Layers and Successories (successful accessories): When packing for your holiday, don't forget about the power of layers and accessories. Lightweight cardigans, shirts, and shackets can add warmth and style to your outfits without taking up much space in your suitcase. Similarly, choose accessories that can be mixed and matched with different looks to elevate your outfits effortlessly.

Packing for a holiday doesn't have to be a source of stress and anxiety. By following these tips and prioritising preparation and organisation, you can streamline the packing process and ensure that you're well-equipped for any adventure that comes your way.
